Henry Guenther, a veteran who lost a leg in the Civil War, lived in this home on the northwest corner of what is now the Dixie Highway and Ridge Road. For years he operated a tavern here. Guenther was active in community affairs and served on the Homewood Village Board. A gas station has occupied this site since the early 1930’s.
